Our target is for girls in middle + high school + college age. If you have a mature girl under the age of 12 then it is fine for her to attend. Many of the issues that girls face in the college age stage unfortunately start earlier and earlier in life. Our desire is to tackle issues like body image, depression, suicide, addiction, promiscuity, and such early on so that they are not swept into those currents with out their knowledge. If you think your student is not ready for this, then please have them wait to come!
Do volunteers, staff, or parents coming with a group or student need to buy a ticket?
Yes, but we do have scholarships if you need them. We do have to cover the cost of our events. If you are volunteering with the Waves Ministry, then you will receive a Waves Team shirt.
Is housing provided?
No. Some groups have connections with beach condos/houses and desire to use those. It is also a liability on Waves to house the girls, and it would make the cost more if we provided housing.
Bring your email confirmation to registration, and you will receive a wristband for the weekend. If you lose your wristband it will be a $5 replacement fee.
How much money should I bring?
Below is the price breakdown for what is offered at the conference: Water, Coffee, Tea- $1-$5 Waves Shirts- $10-$20 Minted Truth Merch- $3-$25 Book Booths- $10-$15
What Should we do during the break?
If you are a group leader then you will get a packet with suggestions for local spots with meals and activities. Below are a few suggestions on what to do during the afternoon break on Saturday: -Go to the beach -Grab dinner- The Donut Hole is a favorite -Destin Commons, Harbor Walk, or Silver Sands Outlets for some shopping -Go on the Southern Star Dolphin Cruise or the Buccaneer Pirate Ship -Freshen up for the evening -Go swimming
Can my student stay at the conference location during the break?
No. During that time frame our conference team is switching around rooms and prepping for the evening session surprises, so we need the conference venue clear of attendees! It will be worth it; we promise!
